Registered Sleep Tech, Sleep Center, PRN job, Nights, Albuquerque, NM
  We are looking for a Registered Sleep Tech to join our Sleep Center team in Albuquerque, NM.
  This PRN job is located at   Lovelace Westside Hospital which provides care to Albuquerque’s Westside and Rio Rancho, including the area’s only inpatient pediatric unit, a kid-friendly emergency room and senior care emergency room services. Named a Pinwheel Champion by the Institute for Patient and Family-Centered Care.

    Registered Sleep Tech   Job Responsibilities: 

  •       A sleep technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and out of center sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education.     
  • A sleep technologist is able to perform the duties defined for a sleep technician and is able to provide oversight of other sleep center staff. 
  • Follow procedural protocols [such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration etc.] to ensure collection of appropriate data.
  •   Follows Sleep Study Preparation and follow-up including: Collect, analyze and integrate patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent medical/social history). 

Registered Sleep Tech Education and Experience Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Successful completion of a polysomnography program, or Respiratory Care Program, or Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist Program, or AASM Accredited Sleep Technologist Program (A-Step).
  • Six (6) months previous experience as a PSG technician and participation in an average of 10 hours per year of AMA PRA Category I CME or CEC sleep related activities over a three-year period or equivalent minimum education.
  • Current BLS
  • RST credentials through ABSM American
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to perform portable monitoring equipment preparation and data download.
  • Demonstrate adherence to cleaning and disinfection procedures for portable monitoring devices. Demonstrate adherence to AASM scoring parameters for OCST; identify artifact, inadequate signals and study failures and generate an accurate report.
  • Effective computer skills; Effective written and verbal communication skills.
